W3C World Wide Web Consortium

The W3C was created to lead the Web to its full potential by developing common protocols that promote its evolution and ensure its interoperability. It is an international industry consortium jointly run by the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science (MIT LCS) in the USA, the National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA) in France and Keio University in Japan. Services provided by the Consortium include: a repository of information about the World Wide Web for developers and users, sample code implementations to embody and promote standards, and various prototype and sample applications to demonstrate use of new technology. To date, over 340 organizations are Members of the Consortium.

OASIS - Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards

SGML / XML Web Pages (collected, updated and published by Robin Cover for OASIS)

The SGML/XML Web Pages represent a comprehensive online database containing reference information and software pertaining to the Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) and its subset, the Extensible Markup Language (XML).
The database features an SGML/XML news column "What's New?" and a cumulative annotated bibliography of articles and press releases with over 2000 entries. The collection contains over 3000 documents explaining and illustrating the application of the SGML/XML family of standards, including HyTime, DSSSL, XSL, CSS, XLink, XPath, XPointer, SPDL, CGM, ISO-HTML, and several others.

OASIS, the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards, is a nonprofit, international consortium dedicated to accelerating the adoption of product-independent formats based on public standards.
